اسامي برندگان جايزه هانس كريستين اندرسن توسط زهره قاييني، رئيس هيئت داوران دفتر بين المللي كتاب براي نسل جوان IBBY اعلام شد.

بر پايه خبر اعلام شده توسط اين دفتر از ميان ۶۰ نويسنده و تصويرگر كانديد اين جايزه یورگ شوبیگرـJurg Schubiger به عنوان بهترين نويسنده از سويس و روبرتو اینوچنتی Roberto Innocenti به عنوان بهترين تصويرگر از ايتاليا برگزيده شدند.
برگزيدگان اين جايزه روز يكشنبه ۷ سپتامبر ۲۰۰۸ (۱۷ شهريور ۱۳۷۸) در نخستين روز كنگره دفتر بين المللي كتاب براي نسل جوان IBBY در كپنهاك دانمارك جايزه خود را دريافت مي كنند.

نامزدهای این جایزه از سوی دفاترملی IBBY کاندید می شوند و داوران بین المللی که از کارشناسان برجسته ادبیات کودکان هستند برندگان این جایزه را از میان نامزده های معرفی شده برمی گزینند.

Outstanding value

As you have all pointed out, the aesthetic qualities of writing and illustration include the treatment of plot, characters, style, structure, language. They are ‘literary’ qualities judged by their skill in crossing the book-built bridge between the creator on one side and the child on the other. There must be an ability to see things from a child’s point of view. We are looking for polished power in the use of creative imagination.

Every culture has its own subtly different literary aesthetics so we need to be multi-faceted in our appreciation. We are looking for something different, something above the ‘acceptably good’ level, something with freshness and clear mastery of the medium. As jurors, we can analyse under headings, but our experience often results in a ‘gut feeling’ of what is good as a complete whole.

Often we shall have to form our opinions through translations or summaries. Be aware that these may not capture the skill of the original writing. A candidate’s work needs to be viewed within the literary tradition of his/her own culture.

A lasting contribution

Your opinions agree here, too, that we are looking for potential or already established classics. Such works often portray deep universal themes and lasting human values – freedom, integrity, truth, love, aggression, joy, etc. They rise above mere trivial entertainment while remaining entertaining. They may stretch the child’s curiosity and certainly the child’s literary imagination. However, the author’s or illustrator’s contribution is to the development of a youth literature and should, ideally, have taken that literature onwards. The world changes all the time and there is an increased sophistication in both writing and illustration.

The complete works

You will not receive ‘the complete works’ of each candidate – only a selection. An examination of the dossier will reveal the breadth of that person’s contribution. The impact of those works, particularly in the candidate’s country of origin, is more significant than the number of languages his/her books have been translated into. We need to balance the success of those whop have succeeded internationally with those whose considerable contribution may be limited within a language or culture (often for economic reasons).
